De-Ionized Water (DI Water)

Description:
De-ionized water is purified water from which most mineral ions (such as sodium, calcium, iron, copper, chloride, and sulfate) have been removed through ion-exchange, reverse osmosis, or distillation. It is a clear, colorless, and odorless liquid. DI water is highly pure, making it suitable for industrial, laboratory, and technical applications where mineral-free water is required.

Uses:

  • Laboratories: Solvent for preparing solutions, reagents, and rinsing glassware.

  • Industrial applications: Used in cooling systems, boilers, battery filling, and electronics manufacturing.

  • Cosmetics & pharmaceuticals: Ingredient in creams, lotions, and medicines where mineral-free water is needed.

  • Automotive: Battery water and radiator coolant preparation.

  • Cleaning: Rinsing precision instruments, optical devices, and semiconductor components.

  • Food & beverage industry: Used in processes where mineral content needs strict control.

This is our standard grade option and is recommended for use in applications such as:

CNC Machining
FLT Battery top up
Cooling systems / flushing
Renewable energy
Plating/anodision
Printer Ink Manufacturing
Hydro Cutting in engineering
Dental Autoclaves
Textile Rinsing
Automotive salt NDT

Hazards

Hazards & Safety:

  • Generally regarded as non-hazardous and safe to handle.

  • Not suitable for direct human consumption as drinking water, since the absence of minerals may affect taste and can leach minerals from pipes or storage tanks.

  • Can still become contaminated with microorganisms if not stored properly.

  • May cause mild skin or eye irritation if contaminated or in prolonged contact.

Precautionary Measures:

  • Store in clean, sealed containers to prevent contamination.

  • Avoid contact with reactive metals (e.g., zinc, copper, lead) as pure water can accelerate corrosion.

  • Ensure proper hygiene standards in applications requiring sterility (e.g., pharmaceutical or medical use).
