Completely Denatured Ethanol (CDE) 96% is a clear, colourless, highly flammable liquid with a strong alcoholic odour. It consists primarily of ethanol (96%) that has been rendered unsuitable for human consumption by the addition of denaturants such as methanol, isopropanol, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), or denatonium benzoate. These additives make the ethanol toxic, unpalatable, and exempt from certain alcohol regulations and excise duties.
