Hydrochloric acid is one of the most widely used industrial chemicals due to its strong acidity and versatility in numerous applications.

  • Chemical Formula: HCL (in water)

  • Concentration: 36% w/w

  • Appearance: Clear, colourless to pale yellow liquid with pungent odour

Uses of Hydrochloric Acid 36%

1. Industrial Applications

  • Chemical Manufacturing: Used as a raw material for producing chlorides, fertilizers, dyes, and other inorganic compounds.

  • Metal Processing: Pickling of steel and metal surfaces to remove rust, scale, and impurities before further processing.

  • pH Control & Neutralization: Commonly used to regulate acidity in industrial processes and wastewater treatment.

2. Water Treatment

  • Adjusts pH in swimming pools, drinking water, and wastewater treatment facilities.

3. Food & Beverage Industry

  • Food-grade HCL is used in processing food ingredients (e.g., for producing corn syrup, hydrolyzed protein).

4. Laboratory Applications

  • Used as a strong acid in titrations, sample preparation, and reagent preparation.

5. Cleaning & Household

  • Component of certain cleaning agents for removing lime scale, rust, and stains.
